Vesterlauget ø

Vesterlauget ø

The same crew behind Vestergade's Vesterlauget opened this waterfront outpost in 2023, and it's already become the neighborhood's living room. The warehouse-style space sits right on the quay with harbor views and a mix of salvaged and modern furniture that feels deliberate, not forced. When the weather's good, the outdoor tables fill with locals nursing natural wine and watching the harbor traffic. The menu shifts daily. Morning through afternoon brings "Brættet" a board loaded with cheese, pâté, anderillettes, sausage, and fresh bread. Lunch is their take on smørrebrød, somewhere between traditional and experimental. Dinner runs 5-8:30pm with a rotating fish or meat dish and a vegetarian option, both around 95 kr. Everything's made from scratch, and the portions justify the low prices. Two smørrebrød cost 110 kr, which is almost absurdly cheap for this level of cooking. The wine list leans natural without being preachy about it, and the beer selection includes Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri and Thisted Bryghus. Owners Peter, Jeppe, and Christoffer work the room like they're hosting a dinner party. Check their Facebook for the daily menu, they don't bother with a website.
